“I Stay” is Appalachia Moderna’s 10th single and will be released on February 24. “I Stay” is about a lonely person’s descent into madness done in true Appalachia Moderna style (soulful vocals, acoustic instruments, modern production). Thanks in advance for the listen and your comments! We appreciate you!
"Wow. Gorgeous stuff. I love the way you balance sounds and styles in this. It obviously harkens back to the glory days of the girl groups. But in keeping with your name, it's updated and upgraded with contemporary sonics and elements. The staccato guitar slashes are a fantastic touch, as are the rumbling, ominous sonics that creep into the track and build as it nears the end of the line. It all combines into something bigger than the sum of its parts — and a fabulous backdrop for the beautifully bittersweet and crystalline vocals, which seem to float above the whole affair elegantly. Thanks for sharing this, best of luck and keep up the great work.” - Tinnitist (music blogger)
“An earthy, organic, and somewhat forlorn arpeggioed acoustic guitar aptly underscores this smokey and melancholic slice of folk rock. Brimming with a crisp and atmospheric soundscape, the cut revels in its rootsy and analogue bells and whistles, lending an expansive and spatial dimension to the acutely lovelorn vocal delivery. Both production and mixing are impeccable on this thing, and leave close to nothing to be desired. Similarly, the songwriting at the core of this well-crated tune is robust—sporting a lot of memorable moments adding to the enduring replay value this record has going for itself” - Everything Must Swing
“Cool brooding track, moody and thought provoking. Emotionally solid for a media use, potentially a dark or yearning scene in a new tv show" - Brooklyn Music Experience (music blogger)
"Perfect lyrics and vocals … all synced well with the music production too!” - New Music Daily (music blogger)
“‘I Stay’ feels firmly rooted in the kind of wistful Appalachian folk stylings your name links to while also having just the right sort of dynamic instrumentation to keep listeners engaged for the entire duration of the track. An undeniable earworm in my opinion." - Authentic Audio (music blogger)
"Hit song! I really like the tempo, mood and vibe from this great piece of art. This should be playing on national radio. " - Carolina Music Video Awards (music blogger)
“A powerful acoustic blues ballad with emotive vocals…” Roller Toaster (music blogger)
"Really nice writing on this, loving the vocal work and the production!” - Plastic Magazine
lyrics
I stay up when everyone goes to sleep
I’m afraid you won’t show up in my dreams
I can’t take it when the morning shines in my room
And I realize I’m still here without you
So I stay
I stay
Eyes open but barely awake
Yeah I stay
I stay
Attached to yesterday
Oh I stay, I stay, I stay
Hard to tell what’s real since you disappeared
Is that you still whispering in my ear
Can’t ignore all these voices of dread
And it feels like they’re pulling me over the edge
So I stay
I stay
Eyes open but barely awake
Yeah I stay
I stay
Attached to yesterday
Oh I stay, I stay, I stay
The clock stopped when you said goodbye
I can’t seem to get you out of my mind
Cause
So you stay
You stay
In my heart you ain’t goin away
Yeah you stay
Yeah you stay
Watching me from the picture frame
So I Stay
I Stay
Attached to yesterday
So you stay
And I stay
While time fades away
I Stay, I Stay, I Stay
I Stay, I Stay, I Stay
